A Night in Nashville

On November 5, 2022, The Children's Fund for GSD Research hosted our 13th fundraising gala, A Night in Nashville. Over 300 friends, family members, sponsors, scientists, researchers and colleagues gathered together at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida to support one another and learn about the progress we have made in GSD Research. Due to a long hiatus as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic, this was the first in person gathering since 2019. It was exciting to be able to share such a meaningful event with our long-time supporters and to introduce this cause - which is so near and dear to our hearts - to new attendees.

Co-chairs of the gala, Lisa Hodes and Meredith Gussin, along with their husbands, Sandy Hodes and Grant Gussin, spoke to the crowd and shared details of their personal journeys raising children with GSD. The Hodes children are now adults, which presents different challenges, while Jamie Gussin is still young. Raising adults and young children with GSD remains as challenging as ever, but thanks to the amazing funds raised over the past 13 galas, so much progress has been made!

The title sponsor, Ryder, remains a huge contributor to the success of GSD Research and we were pleased to be able to have their presence at A Night in Nashville again this year. It was an honor to have sponsorships by Ultragenyx Therapeutics, Beam Therapeutics and Moderna, who each are independently studying various types of treatments for GSD1a. Friends, families and other businesses have continued to support this cause, and we are forever grateful for your support, collaboration, and friendship.

We look forward to our next in-person event...stay tuned for details. We continue to remain hopeful that our children will be able to live healthy lives without the fear of complications due to GSD. More than anything, we hope to be able to celebrate a cure with you in the not too far distant future!

Until then, we remain gratefully yours,

The Board of Directors of The Children's Fund for GSD Research
